Highlights of Decor & Design Fair 2018

Melbourne’s Decor & Design exhibition held in July 2018 provided some great insights for current and future trends.  In a nutshell:

The trends which are set to continue:

  • the Scandi look
  • pale pink soft furnishings
  • deep blue and navy soft furnishings
  • floral prints
  • velvet
  • terazzo
  • marble
  • metallics such as brass, chrome and silver materials
  • round coffee tables

Emerging trends:

  • green soft furnishings
  • padded bedheads and particularly with velvet fabrics
  • shiny surfaces including, metallic fittings and finishes, trinkets and mirrors

The display by Design Furniture was refreshing with its use of green and pink.  The gorgeous pink and green urban jungle style wallpaper adds some wow factor and I love the green velvet paneled Palma bedhead.

In this display by Tantra, I love the use of the black wall with the peacock blue and brass accents.  I’m not normally a fan of florals but the accent cushion works really well in this context.

Again rose coloured tones were used in the display by Cafe Lighting and Living demonstrating that pinks are still in vogue.

Blue and bling also work really well as demonstrated by the use of various metalics with blues in the display by Cafe Lighting & Living.

Blue furniture and furnishings are still on trend as exemplified by this display by Future Classics Furniture.  Blue velvet is still particularly popular and one of my favourites.

Navy is still popular in the bedroom and the combination with greys and white teamed with metallic accents works really well in this display by Cafe Lighting & Living.  I also love the padded bedhead.

I love marble tables and it’s great to see that marble is still on trend.  This beautiful coffee table is by Tantra.

For something a little different I particularly like the dark marble in the Elle Magazine Coffee Table by Globe West.  It is also available in pink marble.
