What's Hot

Highlights of the Decor + Design Fair 2016

This year’s exhibitions showcased a variety of different styles and furnishings and homeware to suits any taste.

Key trends are:

  • Geometric patterns
  • Marble
  • Leather – mostly tan and peach colour
  • Moroccan style
  • Western style – think animal skulls mounted on walls

This year we are seeing Moroccan influences and one of my favourite pieces at the exhibition was this Moroccan style mirrored coffee table from Tantra.

Leather is on trend and these Moroccan style pouffets from Bisque Interiors are a great way to show off this natural material.

Geometric rugs are in vogue.  Why not top it off with a bit of bling like at the Cafe Lighting exhibit?

Another geometric rug at the Cafe Lighting exhibit.   Here the navy sofa works really well with the grey rug.

Get cozy with this beautiful chunky throw from Uniqwa.

These geometric style stools from Uniqwa add some pizzazz.

A ‘Western’ masculine vibe is becoming popular.  You will be seeing plenty of wall mounted skulls and stag heads etc.  These are available from Soundslikehome.

Marble is still very popular, particularly for coffee tables.  These tables are from Messina & Co.

Leather and cowhide is hot right now.  This is the Albert bench by Orson & Blake.

I love this Ottoman cube in tan leather, also by Orson & Blake.

I love the cross hatch leather in the Cuba Collection by Beeline design.  The peach coloured leather will be a popular Scandinavian look.

This magazine table has a handy leather pocket from MRD Home.
